After months of intense work on a large-scale project, I finally hit pause. I decided to take a few days off and unwind by the sea—a long overdue break. I packed my essentials, including my laptop and camera, telling myself I’d at least work an hour a day.
But, as it often happens, reality had other plans. Once I arrived, the laptop stayed mostly closed. Instead, I embraced rest in all its glorious forms—long naps at noon, restful nights, and even dozing off by the pool or on the beach. It felt like my body was finally catching up on the sleep it had missed.
A Modern Hotel, Just Steps from the Sea
Not knowing the area too well, I chose a hotel that offered flexibility: Hotel Eros in Eforie Nord, Romania. It’s a brand-new place—opened just last summer—so this is actually its first full tourist season. What drew me in was the combination of its modern amenities, proximity to the beach, and a pool I could retreat to when the beach got too crowded or hot.
The rooms? Surprisingly spacious and thoughtfully designed. One detail that stood out—oddly enough—was the TV: a new Samsung smart model. Why mention this? Because I’ve stayed in too many places where the TV was an afterthought—outdated or barely functional. Here, even the small touches are handled with care, and that says a lot about the overall quality.
Friendly Faces and Sunny Breakfasts
Each morning started with a generous breakfast buffet—and, just as importantly, warm smiles from the staff. One young woman in particular, barely out of her teens, greeted guests with such natural charm that you couldn’t help but start your day in a good mood. And no, I didn’t ask for her name (even though I’ve been known to be overly curious)—I was too busy deciding whether to nap again after breakfast.
The Elevator That Moaned
Now for a quirky note: the hotel elevator made a rather strange noise, almost like it was sighing heavily with each trip. Our room was right next to it, but it didn’t disturb our sleep at all. If anything, it became an inside joke—“There it goes again… crying because it has to lift me and my luggage to the second floor.” A minor flaw, but one that added a bit of character to our stay.
Insider Tip: A Cooler Way to the Beach
Here’s a helpful tip if you ever stay here: instead of taking the main street to the beach, you can walk beneath the buildings to the left of the hotel. There’s a shaded path that connects to the main beach road—a much more comfortable option during the midday heat.
Final Thoughts: A Hidden Gem on the Black Sea
If you’re looking for a relaxing seaside break in Eastern Europe, Hotel Eros is worth checking out. The value for money is excellent, the staff are genuinely friendly, and breakfast is included. The pool has both sunny and shaded areas, which I personally appreciated. Whether you’re sun-seeking or shade-loving, you’ll find your spot.
